How to Nurture your dreams

by GNANI
You acquire a vision, based on your dreams. Vision is a big picture. It is what
you see yourself as in the future. Dream is a fluid state; vision is a semi solid state. Put your vision on the
paper. Now it becomes your future plan or goal, a solid state. Set some milestones to reach your dream
destination. Now you are all ready to start your dream journey. Enjoy the whole process.
Happiness does not lie at reaching the destination only; it lies at enjoying the whole process or journey.

Biggest roadblock to achieve your dreams is yourself; your own doubts.  You may have good days and bad days. On bad days, your dreams will become a question mark. Dream is like a child. Don’t kill it on a bad day. Nurture it. If you nurture it now, it will take care of you later on.

When you have bad times avoid association with negative things, people and situations. Keep yourself away from energy drainers. Get yourself surrounded by as many positive things, positive people and positive situations as possible. It could be part of a like minded discussion forum, getting advice and comfort from a loved one/mentor, listening to a music which consoles your soul, doing yoga, meditation, working out an exercise in a gym, going for a long walk, reading a lovely book, watching a favorite TV program for a limited time or any other thing.

Also follow the 3 Ps : Patience, Persistence and Perspiration (Hard work) Remember to have an appointment with yourself for yourself. Your dreams and goals are as important as anything else. Don’t relegate them to the back in preference to others. If you don’t give importance to your dreams and goals, who else will give? Put the required effort and time for realizing your goal. It is not like one at the cost of another. Have time for every thing. It includes the time to relax and enjoy with your loved ones. Have a clear plan on when and what to do (and/or not to do). Simple “to do “lists will bring wonders and desired changes in your life.

Any change takes time. Have faith and patience. Be persistent in what you are doing. Always believe that you will succeed. In due course, you yourself will be surprised about the changes that are taking place around you.

Don’t worry about what others think or say. Learn to differentiate good and bad. If something is good, don’t hesitate to absorb it and make it part of your habit or plan.

If things are not happening the way you want, don’t change the plan or your dream, but change your actions. Review everything and do things differently.

You would have heard that Edison failed 10000 times before he made the light bulb. Don’t be discouraged, if you fail few times. It’s okay to fail. But don’t forget to try one more time. Let fear of failure not hold you. Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.

As some one said, “nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours”. Be generous in giving to others. Give first what you want to receive. If you need help, come forward to help others. If you need other’s attention and time, be generous in giving your time and attention to others. If you need money, be generous in supporting needy others with in your means.

Don’t hesitate to show your empathy and sympathy when and where it is needed. Speak the truth, even if you are a sales person. If a competitor’s product is really good, accept it and acknowledge it. If you don’t tell the truth, some one else will.  What is at stake is “your integrity”.

You want to progress; but if you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about turn and walking to the right road. The person who turns back to the right road soonest, progresses the most.

What holds you now?

Is it not a time to crystallize your dreams and goals?

    • Make a plan for achieving your dreams.
    • Set a deadline.
    • Remember the 3 Ps : Patience, persistence and Perspiration.
    • Disregard obstacles and other people’s criticism.
    • Carry out your plan with supreme confidence and determination.
    • As and when you achieve your milestones in the journey, celebrate all such small successes.
    • Finally, you are not limited by your abilities but by your vision.

I wish you all the best for your dreams to come true; live the life of your dreams
